The Times Higher Education world university ranking for 2019 promoted TMU from 617th to 521st overall and ranked it fifth among Taiwanese universities.

President Chien-Huang Lin said this reflects improvements in teaching, research, citations, globalization development and other index categories. Citations in particular increased compared to last year, validating TMU’s biomedical research, expanded industry-academic collaborations and academic visibility.

The UK-based ranking is an offshoot of the famous newspaper’s education magazine. It notes teaching, research, citations, international outlook and industry income in 13 index categories used for rankings. This year’s 1258 schools included 32 Taiwan universities.
