College of Nutrition, Taipei Medical University (TMU) has launched its very first international branch of alumni association on July 23rd, 2020 in i-College TMU, Taipei, Taiwan.
On September 17, 2020, TMU conferred an honorary doctorate degree to Barry Lam (林百里), Chairman of Quanta Computer, in recognition of his achievements in the development of cutting-edge technologies, as well as his instrumental role in Taiwan’s IT industry and smart living.
In supporting Taiwan’s diplomatic efforts around the world, TMU Shuang-Ho Hospital, in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, leads the operation of the Taiwan Health Center in the Republic of the Marshall Islands, staffed with health professionals, to provide health promotion services, medical care and other multilateral exchange activities.
The year 2020 will mark TMU Feng-Hsing Sociomedical and Medical Knowledge Promotion Service Group’s (臺北醫學大楓杏醫療志工學生服務隊) (abbrev. TMU Feng-Hsing) 10th year of volunteer clinic service in Penghu.
The College of Nutrition, the Graduate Institute of Humanities in Medicine and the School of Pharmacy work together to lead students in service learning in Jianshi Township (尖石鄉), a mountain indigenous township in Hsinchu County in northern Taiwan, despite epidemic and storm.
In collaboration with the Observational Health Data Sciences and Informatics (OHDSI), Taipei Medical University (TMU) established “OHDSI Taiwan Chapter” and participated in the “Uncovering exposures responsible for birth season– disease effects,” a global research conducted by experts and scholars from Taiwan, the US, South Korea and other countries.
The screening system applies AI to read chest X-rays uploaded by the hospital, and instantly provides clinicians with reliable values on the location of pneumonia and lung infection.
The initiative is a large-scale clinical genetic research project conducted by the Academia Sinica in collaboration with 13 medical center-level hospitals in Taiwan.
In July, 2019, a Shuang Ho Neurosurgery team used the ROSA robotic surgery system to perform Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) to treat Mr. Chang’s Parkinson’s.
