The Ten Outstanding Young Women Award is the only national award in Taiwan that focuses on young women. Established in 1966, it has 55 years of history. Award winners are limited to women aged between 20 to 40 years old. Each year, only 10 outstanding young women who have consistently been esteemed and valued by society are selected. The award encourages using talents to serve society and is intended to cultivate outstanding women to serve the country. Valuing contribution of women is not only a well-established practice of the society but also support for the government’s efforts regarding the United Nation’ s Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).
