  • Application & Program Admission

A: Students should be directed to submit their applications through the Jotform portal: https://form.jotform.com/212271642480450. Mentors may provide clarification on the process, but are not responsible for submission logistics.

A: Students may not submit more than one application; only one application will be considered at a time.

A: Yes. Students must select a mentor when applying.

A: Once students submit theirs applications, they will be forwarded to the mentor by the program coordinator via Jotform.

TRI: An invoice including the program fee and the application fee will be sent to the student. After the payment is made, the program coordinator will send out the Letter of Acceptance (LoA).

TEEP: The mentor needs to upload the student’s information to the TEEP Annual Plan System: https://teep.studyintaiwan.org/_ypr/ and send the exported list to the program coordinator. The program coordinator will send the list to the Ministry of Education (MOE). The LoA and the Official Approval from the MOE will be sent to the student together. This process may take up to 2 weeks. Please be aware that the program coordinator cannot process applications with immediate start dates.

IIPP: If the student has been matched with a mentor on the IIPP website, an agreement will be signed between the student and the IIPP. The program coordinator will be informed of the student list approximately two months before the internship begins, which will also be shared with IIPP students. The LoA can be requested only after the student list has been shared with hosting institutions.

TVRC: The program coordinator does not issue a separate LoA. Once the mentor accepts the application via Jotform, they may proceed to start the program.

  • Visa Application & Extension

A:

TRI & IIPP & TEEP: Yes, if their home country is not part of the visa-exemption program. Please visit the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the list of Visa-Exempt Entry Countries: https://www.boca.gov.tw/cp-149-4486-7785a-2.html.

TVRC: As this is a virtual program, there is no need to be physically present in Taiwan.

A: They need to consult the nearest Taiwanese embassy or representative office, or visit the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for more details: https://www.boca.gov.tw/np-147-2.html.

A: They will need to apply at the nearest Taiwanese embassy or representative office.

A: They will usually need an official approval issued by a Taiwanese government agency (e.g., NSTC, MOE), a valid passport, and other required documents. Requirements may vary by country, so please consult the nearest Taiwanese embassy or representative office.

TRI & TEEP: Students may need to extend their visa. Please note that the total duration of stay shall not exceed 180 days.

IIPP: Students will receive a 90-day visa, which covers the entire internship period. If a student enters Taiwan before the internship start date, they should be mindful that the 90-day visa validity begins counting from the date of entry, and the visa cannot be extended.

A: According to the National Immigration Agency (NIA), the student can apply for a visa extension at an NIA Service Center up to 15 days before the permitted period of stay expires. To do so, the student needs to email the program coordinator to request an enrollment letter at least two weeks before visiting the NIA. The program coordinator will request the mentor to sign the enrollment letter.   • Program Duration

  • Fees & Stipend

A: Fees may include a basic fee (up to NTD 20,000 per month per program), plus an additional program fee (according to the host mentor’s program), an NTD 500 access card fee, and an NTD 3,750 registration fee, which covers complimentary Mandarin courses and cultural activities.
The exact fees are determined at the host PI’s discretion, so applicants are advised to consult with the mentor directly. Please note that all fees are charged only after the acceptance has been confirmed.

Before the program starts: The application fee is non-refundable; after the program begins, all fees are non-refundable.

TEEP: Mentors may determine the stipend arrangement under their TEEP grant, in accordance with TEEP regulations.

IIPP: Scholarship decisions are made independently by the selected mentor and the IIPP administrators, and are subject to their review process and criteria. Students need to apply for IIPP scholarships through the official website: https://iipp.tw/account/toReg/.

According to Article 5, Section 2 of the official contract between the NSTC and the student, the student has no right to request early or partial payment during the internship period, and the first month’s subsidy will be issued within 30 working days from the internship start date, after the participant arrives and signs the agreement. Students are responsible for covering all necessary expenses upon arrival, including dormitory fees, rent, transportation, and other personal costs. Neither TMU nor the mentor is responsible for any internship-related expenses.

Mentors are responsible for completing the reimbursement process in the school’s ERP system. Please note that although the program duration is issued based on the calendar year, all reimbursements for receipts or payments made before July 31 of each year must be completed and filed in accordance with the instructions of the Office of Finance.

No. Since the process of opening a bank account in Taiwan can be complicated for short-term visitors, the stipend will be handed to the student in cash by the mentor. Students will need to sign a receipt upon collection.

No. As the stipend is allocated by the NSTC or the MOE, TMU does not issue statements indicating the amount.

  • Accommodation

A: Unfortunately, the TMU international student dormitory is currently at full capacity.

A: Many participants choose short-term rentals or shared apartments near TMU campuses. Rental information is available on the Office of Global Engagement website: https://oge.tmu.edu.tw/degree-students/graduate/rental-information/.

  • Insurance

A: Foreign residents with ARC are eligible after 6 consecutive months of legal residence (1 trip abroad under 30 days allowed).

Students holding a visitor visa are not eligible and are strongly advised to secure their own medical or travel insurance before arrival.

  • TMU Access Card

A: The card provides access to TMU buildings, the libraries, and shuttle buses. It also functions as an EasyCard (for metro and buses). If the participant is unsure whether they will need building access or to take the shuttle bus, please consult with the mentor before requesting the card.

A: NT$500 per card.

A: Processing takes about 10 business days. The program coordinator will notify the student when the card is ready for collection.

  • Internship Completion

A:

TEEP: Mentors needs to complete project closure in the TEEP Annual Plan System after the last student has completed their internship.

IIPP: Please send the original copy of 領款清冊 to the program coordinator. Please note that this is essential for the mentor to receive their program support. Although the program duration is issued based on the calendar year, all reimbursements for receipts or payments made before July 31 of each year must be completed and filed in accordance with the instructions from the Office of Finance.

A: TRI, TEEP, TVRC: Please email the program coordinator after completion. The certificate will be issued upon mentor confirmation.

IIPP: As the IIPP was conducted in collaboration with the NSTC, the certificate issued by the NSTC serves as the official internship completion certificate. Therefore, no separate certificate will be issued by Taipei Medical University.
