Leaving TMU
Before receiving your diploma, you must follow all instructions announced by the Registration Section and complete the required online procedures.
Additionally, you are required to complete the “Graduate Survey” (accessible through the new academic system). This step is necessary for the Office of Global Engagement to:
- Verify your scholarship status.
- Facilitate the transfer of your National Health Insurance (NHI) account out of TMU, if you are enrolled in NHI through your TMU account.
What Happens After You Leave TMU
- ARC (Alien Resident Certificate):
If your ARC indicates “Studying” as your purpose of residence, it will be invalidated within two weeks after you take a leave of absence, withdraw, or graduate from TMU. In such cases, please ensure you return your ARC to any National Immigration Agency service station promptly. - National Health Insurance (NHI):
- If you are enrolled in NHI through TMU, your NHI account will be transferred out of the TMU system.
- If you plan to stay in Taiwan and remain eligible for NHI, you can:
- Enroll and pay the monthly insurance fee through the District Office.
- Transfer your NHI account to your new employer or the university where you will continue your studies.
- Once your ARC is terminated, your NHI enrollment will also end. To reenroll in NHI, you must obtain a valid ARC and reside in Taiwan for more than six consecutive months.
- Scholarship:
Your scholarship eligibility will end in the same month that you complete the leave of absence, withdrawal, or graduation process.
ARC Extension after Graduating
After graduation, if your ARC (Alien Resident Certificate) purpose of residence is listed as “Study,” it will expire within two weeks.
However, you are eligible to apply for an ARC extension twice, with each extension lasting one year (for a total of two years), to pursue employment or internships.
Submit your application through the ARC online application system.
