TMU engaged with Austrian institutions at the 2025 Taiwan–Austria Higher Education Forum, fostering global partnerships in research, education & healthcare innovation. Strengthening ties to address shared health challenges.
Taipei Medical University (TMU) played a pivotal role in the 2025 Taiwan–Austria Higher Education Forum, marking a renewed chapter in bilateral academic collaboration. This was the first in-person forum since 2016, co-organized by Austria’s Federal Ministry of Women, Science and Research (BMBWF), the Austrian Agency for Education and Internationalisation (OeAD), and Taiwan’s Foundation for International Cooperation in Higher Education (FICHET).
Gathering representatives from 20 universities and institutions, the forum focused on fostering partnerships in higher education development, research innovation, and talent exchange.

Representing TMU, Dr. Liang-Tzung Lin, Vice Dean of the Office of Global Engagement, shared insights on TMU’s integrated approach to addressing global medical challenges by combining life sciences, engineering, and digital health during his presentation, “Advancing STEM Education, Research, and Collaboration.”
He emphasized how TMU translates academic excellence into practical healthcare innovations through interdisciplinary learning, global talent development, and industry partnerships. From AI-powered drug development to organ-on-a-chip technologies, TMU’s collaborative efforts bridge research and clinical applications, driving innovation in healthcare.
TMU engaged with Austrian institutions at the forum to foster academic and research collaborations, focusing on areas of mutual interest such as healthcare innovation, interdisciplinary education, and talent exchange. Through productive discussions, TMU explored joint research projects, faculty and student mobility programs, and co-teaching initiatives, reinforcing its commitment to meaningful international partnerships and addressing shared global challenges.
TMU’s participation in the forum underscores its commitment to global engagement and academic excellence.
