Work Permit Information for Foreign Students
⚠️ International students who would like to work/intern in Taiwan are required to apply for work permission regardless of the place of employment.
⚠️ International students working without a work permit could be fined between NT$30,000 to NT$150,000. Students need to be aware that unauthorized employment could lead to deportation.
⚠️ If the contract type is “研究獎助生” (Research Scholarship Recipients), a work permit is not required. Please confirm your contract type with your supervisor or the Human Resources Office before starting.
Foreign Students Taking Part-time Jobs Regulations
Refer to Article 50 of Employment Services Act and Chapter V of Regulations on the Permission and Administration of the Employment of Foreign Workers.

Cost
- NT$100 per application
- Payment method: via ATM or post office (see Q14 & 15 of MoL FAQ for more information)
The period validity
- Work permits are valid through the end of the current academic year (September 30th.)
- For example, work permit applied for on October 20th, 2024 (AY 113-1) and on April 13th, 2025 (AY 113-2) are both valid until September 30th, 2025.
- However, for students who expect to graduate in the same semester in which they apply for the work permit, the permit will only be valid until June 30th of their graduation year.
- For exemptions, please refer to Q11 & 16 of MoL FAQ. The maximum validity period is 1 year.
Working Time Limit
- The maximum working hours are 20 hours per week, except during summer and winter vacations
Electronic Service of Student Work Permit
- As electronic services implementation from 1 January 2020, for the application approved, the Ministry of Labor no longer issues student work permit card.
- When foreign students who apply for work permit on EZ Work Permit website agree on the electronic service, after the work permit has been issued, the applicant can then collect the electronic document (work permit) on the website.

Application Process
- Valid Passport Copy
- Student ID Card Copy (should be stamped by Registration Section and marked current semester)
- Valid ARC Copy

It usually takes 7-10 working days to get the work permit. Log in the online system with your account to see the application status.
Reminder and Regulation Regarding Required Documents

Make sure you have filled in 1-5 before uploading the form.
- The signature date should be within 2 weeks of your application.
- Please choose only one reason for apply.
- If the reason for apply is “Severe economic hardship and need to provide proof”
- The applicant is receiving scholarship → please prepare a statement that explains your situation, signed/stamped by you, your advisor, and your program. Upload the statement along with the pre-application form to the EZ Work Permit platform.
- The applicant is not receiving scholarship → please provide a proof that you are not receiving any scholarship
- If there are any alterations (strike-through, white-out, etc.) on the pre-application form, the advisor or program must sign/stamp next to the change.
- Tho photocopy of student ID card must be rate 1:1 original card size.
- Print on A4 size paper, with both front and back of the card on the same page.
- The card serial number must be clear and complete (on the bottom right corner of the card.)
- Card releases through camera/photo cannot be accepted. One A4 size paper only for one student ID card.
