TMU Alumni Win FAPA Lifetime Achievement Award and Ishidate Award

Taipei Medical University (TMU) proudly recognizes two outstanding members of its community at the 60th Federation of Asian Pharmaceutical Associations (FAPA) Awards.

Professor Wei-Chiao Chang received the FAPA Ishidate Award.
Wen-Fu Wang, founder of Yes Chain Pharmacy in Taiwan, received the Lifetime Achievement Award for his long-standing contributions to advancing pharmaceutical practices in Asia. Additionally, Professor Wei-Chiao Chang, Dean of TMU’s College of Pharmacy, was honored with the prestigious Ishidate Award for his exceptional achievements in scientific research.
The 60th Federation of Asian Pharmaceutical Associations (FAPA) was held in Seoul, South Korea from October 30 to November 2, 2024. The event, attended by over 2,000 pharmacists from 25 countries, centered on the theme “Next Generation Pharmacists in Asia,” emphasizing advancements in clinical services and pharmaceutical innovation.

Distinguished alumnus Wen-Fu Wang received the FAPA Lifetime Achievement Award.
Wen-Fu Wang, founder of Yes Chain Pharmacy, introduced numerous innovative approaches to healthcare channels during his tenure as the company’s president, including the Japanese concept of “medication records. Over nearly 30 years of services as a leader in FAPA, he made great efforts to improve the quality of pharmaceutical practices, promote the separation of prescription and dispensing in many countries, and enhance pharmacists’ professional skills. His contributions have increased Taiwan’s visibility and reputation on the global stage.
Dean Wei-Chiao Chang, a leading expert in pharmacogenomics, is widely recognized by his groundbreaking research, including the clinical applications of immunogenomics technology, which earned him the 2023 Wu Ho-Su Medical Award. Beyond his research, Dean Chang actively promotes Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP) and facilitates international pharmacy collaborations, focusing on pharmaceutical education and resource-sharing with countries like Indonesia, Mongolia, and Bangladesh. In addition, Dean Chang has significantly contributed to advancing cross-border academic dialogue, notably serving as Deputy Chairperson for the 2023 FAPA Congress Academic Committee and serving as the President of The Pharmacogenomics Society of Taiwan.
These accolades reflect TMU’s commitment to cultivating leaders who drive progress in healthcare and pharmaceutical sciences, underscoring the university’s impactful role on the global stage.
