TMU and GSK Taiwan Sign MOU to Foster Talent Development and Industry-Academia Collaboration

On March 7, 2025, Taipei Medical University (TMU) and GSK Taiwan signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU), marking the initiation of a multifaceted partnership focused on talent training and industry–academia collaboration.

The ceremony was led by President Mai-Szu Wu, TMU and General Manager Tina Graves, GSK Taiwan with a TMU student currently interning at GSK to host the ceremony and shared the experience.
This year marks TMU’s 65th anniversary. Recognized among Asia’s top 100 innovative universities, TMU is committed to nurturing medical and biotechnology professionals with humanistic values, innovation capabilities, and global perspectives. Meanwhile, GSK, a global leading biopharmaceutical company with more than 40 years of presence in Taiwan, with the mission of “unite science, technology and talent to get ahead of disease together.” and focusing on the development of innovative drugs, vaccines, and professional healthcare solutions. GSK is widely known for its contributions to public health in Taiwan, including the fact that nearly every newborn in the country has received a GSK-developed vaccine. This partnership will offer students internship and part-time opportunities in the biomedical industry. It will also include mentorship programs and career development workshops hosted by GSK professionals to help bridge the gap between academic training and practical application.
TMU President Mai-Szu Wu emphasized that this partnership will not only help students apply their academic knowledge within a global pharmaceutical enterprise, but also support TMU’s goal of strengthening healthcare industry network. VP and General Manager of GSK Taiwan Tina Graves stressed that the initiative not only creates pathways for students to enter the biopharmaceutical field but also facilitates experience sharing between GSK’s leadership and academic communities, laying the groundwork for a more integrated industry–academic collaboration.
Dr. Ching-Chiung Wang, Dean of student affairs at TMU, added that TMU upholds its core values of self-discipline, altruism, and civic responsibility, actively promoting an inclusive/friendly campus environment, community service, and a transition toward a net-zero lifestyle. These efforts aim to guide students in understanding their responsibilities as global citizens while inspiring them to take actions. The university also strives to support diverse career development and prepare students to become internationally competitive talents, fostering a win-win outcome for both education and industry.
