TMU expands regional exposure at QS-APPLE 2018

QS-APPLE 2018 was held in November at Korea’s Chung-Ang University with the theme “Future Universities in the Asia-Pacific: The Changing Face of Higher Education.”

The QS World University Rankings is a global ranking system, and QS-APPLE is an annual Asia-Pacific regional meeting also sponsored by Quacquarelli Symonds. TMU hosted the 2014 meeting at the Taiwan International Convention Center. More than 400 higher education delegates attended the most recent event. |
TMU’s delegation was led by Global Engagement Dean Pei-Shan Tsai and Humanities and Social Sciences Dean Timothy Lane. Prof. Chia-Kwung Fan and Global Partnerships Chief Liang-Tzung Lin also spoke at the event.
TMU delegates were featured speakers in a number of sessions and networked with other delegates. TMU was a finalist in several categories with the Office of Global Engagement’s English website receiving a Silver Award.
Dean Pei-Shan Tsai served as a chair for “Enhancing the Global Impact and Reputation of Research.” Prof. Chia-Kwung Fan shared TMU’s experiences using international service opportunities to drive research collaboration. Global Partnerships Chief Liang-Tzung Lin discussed how international dual degrees promote staff and student research collaborations, and Dean Timothy Lane discussed Taiwan’s higher education achievements and challenges as well as development in innovative entrepreneurial sectors. The TMU presentations received positive feedback and facilitated collaboration discussions, expanding TMU’s regional exposure.
TMU’s Office of Global Engagement website received the “Best International Web Page” silver award based on its design, functionality, interactivity and content. Other TMU finalist entries were in the Best International Print Advertisement and Most Creative Corporate Institutional Video categories.
