TMU Partners with DCT Japan to Pioneer Decentralized Clinical Trials in Taiwan

Taipei Medical University (TMU) announced a strategic partnership with DCT Japan, a leading service provider of decentralized clinical trial (DCT), to integrate DCT operations within TMU Healthcare System.
This collaboration aims to accelerate the development and application of innovative medicines and therapies for the advancement of global healthcare.
TMU President Dr. Mai-Szu Wu remarks that this partnership will enhance TMU’s competitiveness in clinical trials while offering patients, researchers, and medical professionals with access to valuable resources and opportunities of advanced therapeutics. TMU expects that this collaboration will pay the foundation for the long-term progress in medical research and innovation.

DCT Japan, renowned for its comprehensive clinical trial solutions from design to patient recruitment, brings advanced technology and extensive expertise of executing DCT to the partnership. Together with TMU’s research strengths, the two institutions will streamline decentralized clinical trials, expedite new treatment development, and achieve greater efficiency and precision.
Key areas of collaboration include:
- DCT Design and Implementation: Leveraging DCT Japan’s platform for remote data collection and analysis.
- Patient Recruitment and Management: Improving recruitment efficiency and fostering patient engagement through advanced digital tools.
- Data Management and Analysis: Ensuring data security and accuracy to validate findings and drive application.
Furthermore, TMU will integrate its Clinical Research Database (TMUCRD) with the TMU Biobank to provide robust data support for trials. This effort will reinforce TMU’s role in advancing long-term care and health promotion through collaborations with Taiwanese ICT industries. TMU also envisions pursuing additional international partnerships to contribute to the global medical research excellence.
