Taipei Medical University Recognised for Teaching Excellence, Research Impact and Sustainability in QS World University Rankings 2027

Taipei Medical University (TMU) was ranked 608th in the QS World University Rankings 2027. Published annually by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), the rankings evaluated 8,808 institutions across 106 countries and territories. This year, TMU demonstrated notable strengths in teaching, research impact, and sustainability, reflecting its mission as a health sciences university dedicated to advancing education, research, and healthcare innovation.

Teaching Excellence

TMU ranked 85th globally and first among universities in Taiwan for Faculty Student Ratio, with 17.2 faculty members per 100 students—more than twice the global median of 7.7. The result demonstrates TMU’s commitment to personalised education and close faculty mentorship, both of which are essential to preparing future healthcare professionals.

Research Impact

TMU’s Citations per Faculty performance reached 109.8, nearly twice the global median of 59.9, and ranked 517th globally. As a specialised medical university, TMU’s strengths in Life Sciences and Medicine support research in translational medicine, precision health, clinical practice, and public health. During the 2020–2024 publication period, TMU produced 10,951 Scopus-indexed publications, generating more than 136,000 citations excluding self-citations. Over 40% of these publications involved international collaboration, underscoring TMU’s strong global research partnerships and the importance of cross-border collaboration in advancing medical knowledge, innovation, and health impact.

 

Advancing Sustainability Through Healthcare

TMU recorded its strongest year-on-year improvement in Sustainability, rising 57 places in the QS sustainability indicator. For TMU, sustainability is closely linked to healthcare.
