TMU Working in Taiwan Program equips international students with career skills, Mandarin learning, cultural immersion, internships, and local opportunities.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Education, the number of international students in Taiwan for the 112th academic year is 116,038, an increase of approximately 8.5% compared to the 111th academic year.
Among them, students from Vietnam make up the largest group, totaling 27,491, followed by students from Indonesia (16,725) and Malaysia (10,457).

ARC Extension after Graduation

After graduation, if your ARC (Alien Resident Certificate) purpose of residence is listed as “Study,” it will expire within two weeks.

However, you are eligible to apply for an ARC extension twice, with each extension lasting one year (for a total of two years), to pursue employment or internships.

Comment System for Overseas Compatriot or Foreign Student Graduated in Taiwan

At least 70 points in the Comment System

Those who graduated in Taiwan can apply for an employment work permit by the Comment System, a scoring criteria for foreign and overseas compatriot students. Employment work permit will be distributed to those who score above 70 points (maximum 200 points).

The application should be made by the employer through the EZ Work Permit Platform.

By the end of 2023, there were 17,025 instances of foreign and overseas compatriot students staying in Taiwan for work, with 90% applying through the comment system. This demonstrates that the comment System has become the primary channel for foreign and overseas compatriot students to remain and work in Taiwan.

What is the Comment System?

Foreign and overseas compatriot students will be assessed based on various criteria, including education, salary, work experience, etc.
The Comment System is only applicable to “specialized and technical works (A01-A15)”.

What documents do I need for an employment work permit?

What needs to be done after applying through the Comment System?

After submitting the application to the Ministry of Labor, the review will be completed within 7 working days starting from the day after the case is received. International students must obtain the work permit issued by the Ministry of Labor, and update their ARC within 15 days to change the purpose of residence from “Other” to “Employment.”
