Over the past 15 years, Taipei Medical University (TMU) has been dedicated to supporting the Kingdom of Eswatini. Through a six-year teaching program, TMU has conducted approximately 500 teaching seminars and helped establish Eswatini’s national medical licensing examination system, accrediting 154 physicians to date.
These efforts have laid a strong foundation for Eswatini’s sustainable healthcare development, embodying TMU’s belief in “Health for All, Taiwan Can Help.”
Chun-Ming Shih, Superintendent of TMU Hospital, stated that the Taiwan-Eswatini medical cooperation, with the support and guidance of the government and the Taiwanese Embassy in Eswatini, includes initiatives such as deploying permanent medical teams and providing emergency assistance during the pandemic. Among these efforts, assisting Eswatini in establishing its “National Medical Licensing Examination System” has been a key milestone, enabling the country to independently train and certify qualified medical professionals.
Since 2019, TMU has further expanded its initiatives, hosting over 400 medical seminars and 62 workshops focused on clinical techniques, public health, and medical education. These sessions equip local healthcare professionals with essential skills and advanced knowledge, particularly in disease prevention and communicable disease control.
