Taipei Medical University (TMU) continues to excel in nursing education and research, securing the 27th position globally in the 2025 QS World University Rankings by Subject for Nursing.

This marks the fourth consecutive year TMU’s nursing program has placed in the global top 50, reaffirming its status as Taiwan’s highest-ranked nursing school and underscoring the nation’s growing competitiveness in international nursing education.

Consistently Strong Performance in QS Subject Rankings

Since first entering the QS global top 50 in 2022, TMU’s College of Nursing has consistently maintained its strong standing. Beyond nursing, TMU also earned recognition in four other subject areas in the 2025 QS rankings. For the first time, Anatomy & Physiology was ranked among the top 170 globally. Pharmacy & Pharmacology placed in the 151-200 range, while Medicine and Biological Sciences also received global recognition. TMU remains the only Taiwanese institution in the medical and health sciences field to be ranked in the global top 50, further solidifying its leadership in healthcare education.

Institutional Strength and Research Excellence

Dean Pei-Shan Tsai of the College of Nursing attributes the program’s continued success to TMU’s extensive healthcare system, which includes one university and seven affiliated medical institutions. This strong institutional support enhances teaching innovation, clinical training, and research quality, providing students and faculty with access to a comprehensive academic and medical environment.

The university’s interdisciplinary collaborations with industry and academia have led to a steady rise in externally funded research projects and high-impact publications. TMU has also gained increased global visibility through a growing number of highly cited research articles, further establishing its academic influence in nursing education and healthcare.

Employer recognition and a strong academic reputation among international nursing peers have played a crucial role in maintaining TMU’s top-tier ranking. The nursing curriculum is designed to integrate simulation-based learning, clinical internships, and theoretical coursework, ensuring that students receive comprehensive and practical training. With clinical partnerships across TMU-affiliated hospitals, including Taipei Medical University Hospital, Wanfang Hospital, and Shuang Ho Hospital, students gain extensive hands-on experience in diverse healthcare settings. This is reflected in TMU’s consistently outstanding licensure exam performance, with an average pass rate of 98% over the past five years. Notably, the university achieved a perfect 100% pass rate in 2020, 2021, and 2023 (exam years 109, 110, and 112).

Commitment to Global Engagement

TMU’s College of Nursing prioritizes internationalization, offering global internship programs during summer and winter breaks. These programs provide students with valuable international exposure and professional development opportunities, strengthening TMU’s position as a leader in nursing education.

According to the 2025 QS rankings, Taiwan has 12 academic programs ranked in the global top 50, with TMU being the only institution representing the medical and health sciences category. TMU’s continued leadership in nursing education reflects its dedication to academic excellence, research innovation, and global competitiveness in healthcare education.
