Program List
This program focuses on:
(1) understanding geriatric nutrition, nutritional education and nutrition research in Taiwan,
(2) learning about food science, geriatric nutrition, nutritional care, and practical skills to deal with clinical nutrition problems in Taiwan or other countries,
(3) expanding international horizons of domestic students via connecting with international students, and
(4) exploring Taiwan’s culture and providing professional knowledge and skills to international students.
This program, focusing on “Cancer Energy Metabolism” and “Systems Biology and Bioinformatics”, includes professional background knowledge in cancer biology and drug development, critical thinking and empirical medical research capabilities, international vision and communication skills, cancer training in cross-domain integration of pharmaceutical R&D technology, clinical translation skills, etc.
Participants that have successfully completed the program may be considered for funded places to study in TMU’s Master Program or Ph.D. program of Cancer Biology and Drug Development of Taipei Medical University.
Neuroscience and neural stem cell-related studies are among the leading fields in biomedical research. It is at least partially due to the devastating progression and the lack of effective treatment of most neurodegenerative diseases and brain/spinal cord injury threatening the lives of millions of patients around the world. The ultimate target of neuroscience research is thus to develop effective therapeutic approaches against these debilitating diseases and injuries.
This program is aimed to provide students with a comprehensive overview of the progress to date and the latest advanced techniques used in neuroscience research.
Interdisciplinary and Translational Medicine Internship Training Program aims to provide participants with insights into ground-breaking research and to develop interdisciplinary capacity in the field of translational medicine. The course is divided into two parts:
(1) Professional lectures covering
The principles of translational medicine, potentials of translational research in new medicines and basic knowledge of medical-related research.
(2) Laboratory internship
The participants will be trained in basic laboratory skills and safety issues and given guidance on experimental design, data handling, and statistical analysis.
This programs covers three main areas of research fields, including biomaterials/medical device, in vitro diagnosis/simulation, and precision/cancer medicine. It also offers expertise in topics such as tissue regeneration, drug release, biomechanics, orthopedics device, microfluid channel design, vascular hydrodynamic simulation, personalized therapy, anti-cancer gene analysis and other applications of modern medicine and biomedical engineering.
Participants with biological/medical or engineering background are welcomed to join this program specifically designed for young talent interested in biomedical engineering.
This program is run by faculty members from the Graduate Institute of Mind, Brain, and Consciousness. We are a group of scientists who investigate the inner workings consciousness and cognition, including their neural underpinnings. Our goal is to train students to think about mind and consciousness-related questions from a Cognitive Neuroscience perspective, and be able to design and conduct relevant experiments.
This year we offer internships in the following labs:
(1) Perception, Attention, and Memory in the Brain (Dr. Philip Tseng & Dr. Josh Wang)
(2) Electroencephalography and Biomedical Data Analysis in Humans (Dr. Tzu-Yu Hsu)
(3) Neuroscience of Circadian Clocks (Dr. Jihwan Myung)
