WHY US

The Ph.D. Program for Neural Regenerative Medicine is the first PhD program of its kind in Taiwan. This relatively new program focuses on the integration of basic science and clinical research with an emphasis on translational medicine. Our energetic and open-minded faculty investigate the physiological and pathological mechanisms underlying severe CNS traumatic injury and neurodegenerative diseases, and develop drugs and strategies to improve the lives of brain injury sufferers.

COURSES INTRODUCTION

Our courses cover basic neuroscience, stem cell biology, neural regenerative medicine, and other neural regenerative-related courses such as biomedical materials. Through these courses, students develop:

  1. An understanding of brain trauma, nerve damage, neurodegenerative diseases and nerve regenerative medicine
  2. Practical medical management and skills
  3. The ability to expand translation across fields
  4. An international outlook and the ability to present and conduct research anywhere in the world

After two years of coursework, students begin their own supervised research projects. Our faculty engages in extensive collaborations with other labs, giving students ample opportunities to learn skills related to their specific project.

FUTURE CAREER PATH

Graduates leave Ph.D. Program for Neural Regenerative Medicine as expert biomedical researches. Together with our many collaborations with domestic and international research institutes and biotech companies, graduates are prepared for positions in academic or industrial fields. Many of our graduates continue in academics in post-doctoral or other research positions, while others continue with careers as medical doctors or occupational therapists.
