ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Eligibility

All applicants must comply with the MoE (Ministry of Education) “Regulations Regarding International Students Undertaking Studies in Taiwan” (This set of regulations was amended on September 19, 2025, but the updated English version has not yet been released) and other applicable regulations.
The decision to grant international student status is decided by citizenship status, please see key points below if you are:

  • A person of foreign nationality who has never held Republic of China (“R.O.C.”) nationality and who does not have overseas Chinese student status at the time of their application then you are permitted to apply for admission.
  • A person who has or had Republic of China (“R.O.C.”) nationality, has a permit residence in Hong Kong or Macao or once held Chinese citizenship, please refer to Articles 2 and 3 in the Regulations above to confirm your admission qualifications.
  • To apply as an overseas Chinese student, please refer to the Website provide by University Entrance Committee for Overseas Chinese Students.

Educational/Academic Qualification

For admission to a Master’s program, you must hold a bachelor’s degree or be in your final year of undergraduate study, graduating by July 2026. For admission to a Ph.D. program, you must hold a Master’s degree or be in your final year of study, graduating by July 2026.

Program-Specific Requirements

Apart from the general entry requirements, you must meet the specific entry requirements as listed by each program. The details can be found under the Admissions Guidelines.

English Proficiency

All applicants must demonstrate a minimum level of English language proficiency for admission.
You will need to satisfy the required competence level for your intended program(s). Please refer to the “Program-Specific Requirements in the admissions guidelines.

Minimum score required CEFR B1 (Threshold) or above CEFR B2 (Threshold) or above

We strongly encourage you to take an internationally recognized test and send your scores electronically from the testing service in order to be verified. It is important that you use the correct code when sending your official scores to TMU.

English-Language Test Waiver
Applicants who meet any of the following conditions may be exempt from submitting proof of English language proficiency upon providing proof of the language of instruction or a graduation certificate:
(1) The applicant holds a passport from a country where English is an official language.
(2) The applicant’s previous degree was taught in English.
(3) The applicant majored in English in their previous degree.

Financial Statement

Applicants shall provide a financial statement, obtained within the last three months, reflecting at least USD 4,000 at the application stage.
(For applicants to the INTENSE program, the financial requirement is USD 5,000.)

As for the official financial statement that needs to be authenticated by the R.O.C (Taiwan) embassy/representative office, the amount stipulated on the admission notice depends on the admitted applicants’ scholarship package.

If the currency of the bank statement is in neither NT dollars nor US dollars, applicants themselves shall convert the total amount and indicate it by writing
down/typing the exchange rate on the bank statement.

Important Notes:

  • Once payment is completed, no refunds will be issued for any reason.
  • Applicants may apply to up to TWO programs under the General Track with a single application fee of TWD 2000 or USD 80 per applicant.
  • The application fee is required for all applicants to complete the university application. This fee cannot be waived, as it is necessary for the evaluation and processing of all applications.

Tuition & Miscellaneous Fees and Refund Policies

就讀醫學系的僑生,其學費與本地學生相同;若以國際學生身份入學,學費則為本地學生的兩倍。
Students enrolled in the Medicine program as Overseas Chinese students are charged the same tuition fees as local students. However, those enrolled as international students are required to pay tuition fees that are double the amount charged to local students.

Admission to degree programs is processed through the Office of Global Engagement, which receives all applications, checks submitted documents for completeness, and issues notification letters. Admission decisions are made by the respective academic programs.

STEP 1

Go to the TMU admission system to start your application process and select the correct entry term (e.g. TMU Graduate Admissions). Click on the “Apply Now” button to create an account. Activate your account by clicking on the link in the activation email sent to you.

1. Each applicant can only own ONE account. Duplicated applications will result in disqualification automatically without any notification.

2. This application system is compatible with desktops or laptops.

STEP 2

Fill out the application form, send the recommendation invitation to the recommender in accordance with the program-specific requirements, and upload the required documents (such as proof of nationality, academic credentials, and other supporting documents required by programs) for academic review, including but not limited to a CV, study plan, and language proficiency certificate.

STEP 3

Ensure that the application fee is paid and the receipt is uploaded.

STEP 4

Remember to preview your application before submitting. Application content cannot be modified once you complete submission.

SELECTION AND RESULTS

Interview

Interviews may take place onsite or online via the virtual meeting platform. If you are selected for interview(s) by the program(s) for which you are applying then you will be notified of the date, time (Taiwan time GMT+8), meeting ID & password, and further details through the TMU admission system. Please make sure you are familiar with virtual meeting platforms and have a stable, high-speed internet connection for the interview.

Offers and enrollments

Application and TMU scholarship results will be announced through the TMU admission system. If you are admitted to a program, you must confirm your acceptance by the response deadline. Failure to do so will be deemed as a rejection of the admission and scholarship offer.
