  • 2024/2025 TMU Admission for International Students

Taipei Medical University (TMU) provides a wide range of medical science graduate programs at Master’s and Ph.D. level across its 10 colleges. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Eligibility

All applicants must comply with the MoE (Ministry of Education) “Regulations Regarding International Students Undertaking Studies in Taiwan” and other applicable regulations. The decision to grant international student status is decided by citizenship status, please see key points below if you are:

  • A person of foreign nationality who has never held Republic of China (“R.O.C.”) nationality and who does not have overseas Chinese student status at the time of their application then you are permitted to apply for admission.
  • A person who has or had Republic of China (“R.O.C.”) nationality, has a permit residence in Hong Kong or Macao or once held Chinese citizenship, please refer to Articles 2 and 3 in the Regulations above to confirm your admission qualifications.
  • To apply as an overseas Chinese student, please refer to the Website provide by University Entrance Committee for Overseas Chinese Students.

Educational/Academic Qualification

For admission to a Master’s program, you must hold a bachelor’s degree or be in your final year of undergraduate study, graduating by July 2025. For admission to a Ph.D. program, you must hold a Master’s degree or be in your final year of study, graduating by July 2025.

Documents equivalent to assigned educational level are verified and based on:

English proficiency

All applicants must demonstrate a minimum level of English language proficiency for admission.
You will need to satisfy the required competence level for your intended program.

We strongly encourage you to take an internationally recognized test and send your scores electronically from the testing service in order to be verified. It is important that you use the correct code when sending your official scores to TMU.

  • PTE Academic and PTE Academic Online: Taipei Medical University

English-Language Test Waiver
If the official language of the applicant’s nationality as indicated on their passport is English, or if their previous degree was taught in English or their major was English, they will be exempted from submitting English proficiency scores. Instead, they should provide evidence of the language of instruction or their graduation certificate and upload it to the “English proficiency” field in the admission system.

Program specific requirements

Apart from the general entry requirements, you must meet the specific entry requirements as listed by each program. The details can be found under the Admissions Guidelines.

Financial statement

Applicants shall provide a financial statement, obtained within the last three months, reflecting at least USD 4,000 at the application stage.

As for the official financial statement that needs to be authenticated by the R.O.C (Taiwan) embassy/representative office, the amount stipulated on the admission notice depends on the admitted applicants’ scholarship package.

If the currency of the bank statement is in neither NT dollars nor US dollars, applicants themselves shall convert the total amount and indicate it by writing
down/typing the exchange rate on the bank statement.

Important Notes:
Once payment is completed, no refunds will be issued for any reason.

Admission to degree programs is processed through the Office of Global Engagement, which receives all applications, evaluates credentials and issues notification letters. Admission to the university is decided by the appropriate academic department or program.

APPLY ONLINE

STEP 1

Go to the TMU admission system to start your application process and select the correct entry term (e.g. TMU Graduate Admissions). Click on the “Apply Now” button to create an account. Activate your account by clicking on the link in the activation email sent to you.

Note: Each applicant can only own ONE account. Duplicated applications will result in disqualification automatically without any notification.

STEP 2

Fill out an application form and upload your documentation such as proof of nationality, academic credentials, and other supporting documents required by programs for academic review such as CV, study plan, certificate of language proficiency.

STEP 3

Remember to preview your application before submitting. Application content cannot be modified once you complete submission.

SELECTION AND RESULTS

Interview

All interviews take place ONLINE via the virtual meeting platform. If you are selected for interview(s) by the program(s) for which you are applying then you will be notified of the date, time (Taiwan time GMT+8), meeting ID & password, and further details through the TMU admission system. Please make sure you are familiar with WebEx and have a strong internet connection speed for the interview. In exceptional circumstances interviews may be in person, by Skype or by phone; you will be notified by the program(s) if this is the case.

Offers and enrollments

Application and scholarship results will be announced through the TMU admission system. If you are admitted to a program, you must confirm your acceptance by the response deadline. Failure to do so will be deemed as a rejection of the admission and scholarship offer.

Applicants should keep their sign-in email address and password safe and not disclose their log-in details to anyone. Email and password are required when updating personal data and checking the result of admission and scholarship awards.
