WHY US

Faculty at the Graduate Institute of Health and Biotechnology Law (GIHBL) address challenges of governance and law as they pertain to biomedicine and public health in the 21st century.

COURSES INTRODUCTION

Our faculty and students focus on legal topics as they relate to bioscience and biomedicine. Using a variety of legal methods and viewpoints, we focus on issues in fields such as cognitive science, genome editing, and adaptive healthcare systems, which are analyzed within a framework of democratic values.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

  • The Health and Biotechnology Law master’s degree is a two-year (four-semester) program requiring completion of 32 credits, including 19 credits of required courses.
  • At least one publication in a domestic or foreign journal or a conference hosted by an academic institution or professional association. Students who have completed 96 hours of internships in an affiliated institution of the Institute may submit the internship certification as an alternative to the aforementioned documentation required for the oral defense.

FUTURE CAREER PATH

Hands-on, practical training at the GIHBL equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate legal issues and address contemporary legal problems in the field of biomedicine. With their intellectual drive thus harnessed, GIHBL graduates are prepared for success as the next generation of lawyers, policymakers, and legal advocates.
