💡 Combining lectures, site visits, lab practice, cultural excursion, and Chinese language learning, the International Honors Program (IHP) aims to provide Indian students a unique two-week study experience at Taipei Medical University.

This program will take place between 4 and 15 June 2018, students will be able to choose to join IHP under one of the following three themes:

  • Big Data in Health Care
  • Brain Science and Bio-imaging
  • Biomedical Engineering Frontiers in Health Care

Big Data in Health Care

Data science is an increasingly integral part in many business and industries, and Health Care is no exception. IHP in Big Data in Health Care, delivered by TMU’s Graduate Institute of Data Science and Research Center of Biostatistics, will help participants establish improved understanding of how data application and information analytics facilitates research development and clinical operations in today’s health care landscape.

Brain Sciences and Bio-imaging

TMU’s Graduate Institute of Mind Brain and Consciousness investigates the levels and contents of consciousness, along with the cognitive mechanisms that modulate these. Central to this work is the use of different brain imaging and stimulation techniques to directly measure and manipulate the actions of the brain and mind. Participants of IHP in Brain Science and Bio-imaging will be guided to understand how these work in health and disease.

  • Eligibility:

1) Participants should be in their 3rd or 4th years (undergraduate juniors and seniors students)

2) Participants should have taken at least 1 semester of college-level math/stats course (calculus or statistics or any relative field).

Biomedical Engineering Frontiers in Health Care

IHP in Biomedical Engineering Frontiers in Health Care provides a taster experience that combines basic biomedical and engineering courses. The courses are delivered by TMU’s academics from the College of Biomedical Engineering that houses wide ranging novel developments on biomaterials, medical devices, tissue regeneration, nanotechnology, and optomechatronics.

Feedback from attendants of IHP 2017:

This program was so useful for me. This program gave me a clear picture about AI and big data analysis.

I enjoyed the usage of different technologies toward health care. I was also happy to speak with different lecturers and this gave me a platform to understand the role of different specialties in health care.

The talk with Terry Kuo (One of TMU’s professors) was very useful for my project in biomedical instrumentation. All the lectures were very precise. There is nothing lease useful planned in the schedule. Every activity was just perfect!

The most useful parts were the cultural visits and the interaction with the professors in our areas of research interest. And especially the Chinese courses were extremely fun and a useful experience.
