TMU commitment to the SDGs

Designed to guide our efforts to ‘achieve a better and more sustainable future for all’, the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have inspired many organizations to create impact, enabling universities to engage with wider stakeholder groups to produce the greater good.

Taipei Medical University has a long history of supporting the development agenda of communities around the world. With a specific focus on improving the quality of life and healthcare, TMU is committed to contributing to the SDGs by the following actions:

-Building capacity of health professionals in areas in need;

-Equipping the locals with knowledge and skills to benefit their health management;

-Facilitating multilateral exchange and sharing of resources and expertise ;

-Enhancing our collective understanding in health, education, and science.

Good Health and Wellbeing

Working with governments of the Kingdom of Eswatini and the Republic of the Marshall Islands, TMU collaborates with local officials and residents to strengthen their practice in epidemic prevention of neglected tropical diseases, benefiting health improvement of hundreds and thousands.

Gender Equality

TMU has a healthy gender balance on campus. With female accounts for over 30% of faculty members and 55% of students, the University has a vibrant environment supporting women in developing a career in science. In 2019, 42% of our managerial positions are held by female leaders, bringing in diverse perspectives in our debates and decision-making.

Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure

With artificial intelligence gaining prevalence in our societies and day-to-day life, TMU works closely with academic and industrial partners to explore effective mechanism incorporating research findings and real-life applications to support discovery of drugs and treatment, development of biotechnologies, as well as creation of smart healthcare.
