Luxembourg Delegation Explores Medical Education and Research at Taipei Medical University

On August 14th, 2023, Taipei Medical University warmly welcomed representatives from Luxembourg’s Ministry of Higher Education and Health Research, including Dr. Romain Martin, Premier Conseiller of Luxembourg Ministry of Higher Education and Research, and Dr. Gregor Baertz, President of the Board of Luxembourg Institute of Health. Also, in attendance were Mr. Lex Kaufhold, Director of Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office Taipei, Mrs. Sophie Liao, Deputy Director of Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office Taipei, and Ms. Alison Yang from the Ministry of Education of Taiwan. The fact-finding visit by the Luxembourg delegation aimed to foster a comprehensive understanding of Taiwan’s medical education and research system so as to inform future planning of bilateral collaborations.

The visit by Dr. Romain Martin and Dr. Gregor Baertz centered on the research and education development in the areas of precision medicine, artificial intelligence in medicine. These subjects hold significant relevance in today’s technology-driven healthcare landscape. Members of the delegation also had the opportunity to visit the Proton Center of Taipei Medical University Hospital, gaining insights into the cutting-edge clinical medical technologies and healthcare provision in Taiwan.

This exchange signifies a deeper communication between Luxembourg and Taiwan in the fields of medical research and health science education. In the future, Taipei Medical University looks forward to working with universities and research institutes from Luxembourg on joint projects in medical research and education.
