Taipei Medical University (TMU) has never stopped its journey to a world-class university.

Alongside cultivating and training medical professionals, TMU spares no effort in promoting people’s healthcare and well-being. TMU operates four affiliated hospitals: Taipei Medical University Hospital (TMUH), Taipei Medical University Shuang Ho Hospital (TMU Shuang Ho Hospital), Taipei Municipal Wanfang Hospital (TMU Wanfang Hospital), and Taipei Medical University Hsin Kuo Min Hospital (TMU Hsin Kuo Min Hospital). Each of TMU’s affiliated hospitals is dedicated to benefiting the Taiwanese people and extending its reach to the global community.

In May 2023, TMU Wanfang Hospital raised public awareness about the importance of maternal mental health by organizing a placenta rubbing show. This event conveyed the core concept that every new life entering the world is a precious gift, made possible through a mother’s selfless dedication over ten months.

Despite all being located in northern Taiwan, TMU’s affiliated hospitals proactively seek various ways to contribute to the well-being of the entire island and raise awareness of healthcare issues. To achieve this, TMU Hsin Kuo Min Hospital joined Taoyuan City Government’s coastal area online medical service project in 2023. The hospital offers regular mobile clinics and healthcare services to rural areas, providing telemedicine consultation and home visits bridge the healthcare gap between urban and rural areas. This initiative aims to benefit elderly individuals who face challenges in accessing in-person medical care.

Meanwhile, TMU Shuang Ho Hospital signed the “Strategic Alliance Agreement” with Lienchiang County’s Bureau of Health and Welfare. From 7th to 22nd March 2023, the hospital’s medical team conducted medical examinations eleven times, with almost three thousand residents participating. Thanks to the ASUS Foundation’s donation of wireless ultrasound machines, the hospital’s medical staff can efficiently and effortlessly examine patients’ health conditions.

With the vision of promoting a healthier life for people, TMUH signed a “Telemedicine Memorandum of Understanding” with Hualien’s Mennonite Christian Hospital on May 8th, 2023. By integrating the two hospitals’ 24/7 counseling hotlines, TMUH believes it can offer practical and immediate medical advice to its counterpart, benefiting Eastern Taiwanese residents. Shy-Shin Chang, the vice superintendent of TMUH, stated that this collaboration would also enhance TMUH’s ability to provide better services to elderly individuals with disabilities and those diagnosed with dementia in the future, drawing inspiration from Mennonite Christian Hospital’s experience in long-term care services.

Beyond benefitting the general public in Taiwan, TMUH is extending its hand to the world. TMUH collaborated with Octon International Company Limited to expand telemedicine services to the open seas by utilizing advanced communication software. They signed the Global Maritime Telemedicine Platform Memorandum of Understanding on June 6th, 2023, the collaboration creates a groundbreaking offshore telehealth platform that will allow to access telemedicine consultations and receive advice from doctors who speak the same native language as patients who need medical attention on sea voyages, marking the beginnings of an innovative, new era in Taiwan’s medical industry.

Moreover, TMUH has been cultivating a partnership with Vietnam for nearly a decade. After signing the collaboration initiatives with Hanoi’s Bach Mai Hospital in 2017, TMUH also established collaboration initiatives with Cho Ray Hospital and University Medical Center of HCMC (Ho Chi Minh City) in 2023. Led by Jiunn-Horng Kong, the dean of the College of Biomedical Engineering, these initiatives encompass exchanges of medical doctors, graduate and Ph.D. courses, annual seminars, clinical trials, referrals, and telemedicine.
