TMUH Inaugurates Innovative Geriatric Clinic: A Pioneering Hub for Sustainable Senior Care and Community Health in Hsinchu County

Taipei Medical University Hospital (TMUH) is pleased to announce the inauguration of its innovative “TMUH Geriatric Clinic” in late 2023, strategically positioned within the community.

Situated in Taiwan’s Asian Health Mansions in Hsinchu County, this marks the commencement of a premium long-term care community, uniquely designed with sustainable concepts in alignment with Europe’s Green Capital declaration, aiming to provide seniors with a healthier living environment.

Chairman Ray-Jade Chen of Taipei Medical University addressed residents’ health needs by deploying appropriate medical teams, establishing medical infrastructure, constructing health service models, and implementing remote healthcare. This initiative has now evolved into a vital service hub within the community.

In response to significant global healthcare transformations amid the pandemic, primary care clinics are taking on expanded roles as community health hubs and integrated smart care providers, beyond merely offering health care to residents. The establishment of the Geriatric Clinic underscores TMUH’s commitment to sustainable community operation.

Breaking away from the traditional clinic-patient relationship, TMUH Geriatric Clinic goes above and beyond by actively assisting patients in cultivating healthy habits. Superintendent Chun-Ming Shih emphasized the integration of interdisciplinary doctors from family medicine, emergency medicine, orthopedics, and rehabilitation to address degenerative diseases associated with aging. This includes chronic conditions, acute and chronic pain, joint aging, and various functional declines.

Vice Superintendent Shy-Shin Chang, highlighted that the clinic’s current medical services are tailored for senior citizens and expressed plans for TMUH Geriatric Clinic to gradually extend its medical services to the broader public of Hsinchu County in the future.
